I hope you don't mind that I used this photo as a muse.
I just got inspired to write a poem. Read it if you'd like. :)

Very impressive work. Who made the crown, might I ask?

We rented the crown at Camp Suki. It isn't actually a crown, I think. It's a mardigras head-dress. Haha! Thank you for the comment!:blackrose:

Ah, Mardi Gras... You earned the compliment and the comment. However, I have a question: Forgive me if this sounds at all racist (I assure you, I am not), but is there any meaning to having a Filipino friend dressed the very European-dress? I was just wondering if there was some sort of commentary here, maybe on how the British Empire, and the other colonial European countries would force their styles onto other cultures, and some cultures would submit into letting those fashions become "vogue"? Or did you just think your friend looked cool as Queen Liz? Sorry if that came out wrong, but the curiosity is killing me.

That's a good question actually. Art is subjective, thus, if you want to interpret it that way, then do so by all means. But personally, no, it has no underlying meaning whatsoever. I am fascinated with the Elizabethan era and have been wanting to flesh out a stylized series of the said theme for the longest time. With my friend volunteering to model for me, I gladly seized the opportunity seeing that she could portray the supposed "bald" queen perfectly (Elizabeth was never bald, contrary to what is falsely believed). The black veil, my model is wearing in some of the photos, is inspired by the stories of a ghost of a lady (dressed in black with a black veil over her face) seen to haunt the library of Windsor Castle and is fallaciously believed to be Queen Elizabeth's ghost.

There. That's a quite lengthy elaboration I was supposed to post at the end of the series. But I'm glad you asked this question. Do not worry, I did not find it racist at all. Seen in a different light, yours was a very good interpretation. It made me ask myself as well. Haha! Maybe that is applicable as to why I chose this particular theme. Anyway, thanks again! I really appreciate it when people take time to approach or write me to ask my personal interpretation and/or stories behind my paintings and photographs.:ahoy::blackrose:

I understand. I'm glad it didn't sound racist. *is a certified paranoid* I know how great it is to get those kinds of comments and questions. I'm just glad I had the presence of mind to come up with a good one this time. And kanpai to you as well.
